Who’s Ted?
Hello and thanks for visiting Ted’s Trophies! So, who is Ted?
Our boy Teddy completed our family of 4 in October 2021. At just 10 days old, doctors discovered a significant abnormality of the aortic valve in his heart which is causing a severe case of aortic stenosis. Ultimately, this needs to be treated with multiple open heart surgeries between now and him becoming an adult. Thankfully, the outstanding team at The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle not only saved Teddys life, but have also bought him invaluable time before requiring his first open surgery, by carrying out a keyhole cardiac intervention called a balloon valvotomy.
Since then, Teddy has defied the odds and is soldiering on, putting on weight, and reducing the risk factor for his first major surgery every day that goes by. He has made his family extremely proud and given us the drive to try and help make a difference for others in our situation by fundraising for those who have the power to do it.
We have already received invaluable support from 2 charities – The Sick Children’s Trust and CHUF (Childrens Heart Unit Fund) and will continue to rely on their support for years to come, to make our situation more manageable, as will many other families like ours.
